Yantra Yoga or the Tibetan Yoga of Movement, is one of the oldest recorded systems of Yoga that exists in the world, coming to us through Tibet.
"In the practice of Yantra Yoga we use our body, our voice or our breath and our mind. With the body we do positions and movements, with the voice/breath there are many techniques of pranayamas or breathing practices and with the mind there are many ways to concentrate and visualize. The aim is to go beyond judging and thinking with our mind. We call this contemplation. When we apply all these three aspects together, we have the possibility to arrive at our real knowledge or the understanding of our primordial state, our original condition. That is the real meaning of yoga in Yantra Yoga."
Choegyal Namkhai Norbu
This course will cover the system of complete breathing, the basic breathing used in the system of Yantra Yoga, using methods developed by Fabio Andrico and presented in the DVD Breathe. Together with the movements of Yantra Yoga and the principle of working with prana, or vital energy, we will explore through this technique of breath work and movements of Yantra Yoga, what it means to breathe, improve and train our understanding and capacity of breathing, and apply this understanding in simple movements of Yantra Yoga that can be modified and applied by people of all ages, body types and limitations, in order to more deeply understand and apply kumbhaka.
This kind of course is good for people who have been afraid to approach Yantra Yoga because of physical limitations, age or lack of experience and understanding. It is also good for anyone interested in improving their breathing, their understanding of prana and their interest in deepening the understanding and practice of kumbhaka.
Familiarity with the preliminaries of Yantra Yoga and transmission from Choegyal Namkhai Norbu are required.
